Every few years, Heber Light & Power updates its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP)—a roadmap for how we will provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity in the years ahead. This plan looks at expected community growth, customer demand, energy market conditions, and the balance of resources like hydropower, natural gas, solar, and wind.
Our most recent update reaffirms three priorities:
- Reliability – Ensuring power is available when you need it, even during peak demand or extreme weather.
- Affordability – Managing costs to keep rates fair and stable.
- Sustainability – Prioritizing renewable energy and improving efficiency while maintaining balance in our portfolio.
The plan also considers challenges such as drought impacts on hydropower, volatility in natural gas prices, and opportunities to diversify with new technologies like battery storage.
